The JHCSC Gender and Development (GAD) Office, led by Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, hosted the 4th Quarter Regular Meeting of the Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) IX on November 19, 2024. The gathering took place at the Kalikasan Assembly Hall, NEDA IX Building, within the President Corazon C. Aquino Regional Government Center in Balintawak, Pagadian City.

The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Dumingag Campus held its SGS Day 2024 on November 16 at Dapiwak. The event, themed “Relevance, Inclusivity, Sustainability, and Excellence (RISE) in Graduate Education: Transforming the Education Landscape for a Sustainable Future,” was spearheaded by Dr. Benjamin B. Mangila, Chairperson of the MAEd Educational Administration Program, and Dr. Jeffrey P. Villaver, Chairperson of the MagDev Program. The event was supported by Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, SGS Dean and Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin, Campus Director of Dumingag—the event aimed to highlight the role of graduate education in promoting sustainability and community development.

Excitement is building as 𝑱.𝑯. 𝑪𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒈𝒆, in partnership with the 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒁𝒂𝒎𝒃𝒐𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒍 𝑺𝒖𝒓, is set to host the 𝑴𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒐 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑻𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒓𝒚 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍𝒔, 𝑰𝒏𝒄. (𝑴𝑨𝑺𝑻𝑺) 𝑭𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 from November 24-29, 2024.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) continues to set the standard for excellence in tourism and hospitality education, as its 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 (SBM) team secured 𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 among 20 regional higher education institutions participants at the 11th Regional Congress and Skills Competition. The event was organized by the Council of Tourism and Hospitality Educators of Zamboanga Peninsula (CTHEZP), took Place from November 13 to 15, 2024, and was hosted by Western Mindanao State University.

Faculty members from the School of Teacher Education (STE) at J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), Dr. Starr Clyde L. Sebial and Mrs. Juvie B. Sebial were honored to present their research at the 11th International Conference on Teacher Education, hosted by the College of Education, University of the Philippines – Diliman. The conference was held on November 13-14, 2024, at the Iloilo Convention Center with the theme: “Preparing Teachers for Education 5.0 Toward Sustainable Futures: Thrusts, Challenges, and Praxis.”

Vice President for Administration and Finance (VPAF) Mr. Wilfredo M. Barnido Jr. convened an emergency meeting for the presentation of the summary reports for the JHCSC 2025 Strategic Plan. The conference, held on November 14, 2024, at the 2nd Floor, Function Hall, JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian Extension Campus, brought together key university officials, including Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Planning Director Dr. Cleofe A. Baterna Jr., and Quality Assurance (QA) team, led by Dr. Vicpher D. Garnada. The gathering aimed to review and refine strategies ahead of the institution’s 2025 targets.

San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur – November 14, 2024 – Syntegral Global Solutions (SGS) held the groundbreaking ceremony for its first integrated coconut processing facility in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. The event was led by SGS CEO Bryan K. Thomas, with support from local officials, including Governor Victor J. Yu, Congresswoman Divina Grace C. Yu, and Mayor Ex D. Ocapan. Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, President of the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), played a key role in the project’s success. The ceremony was attended by SGS executives and local dignitaries, emphasizing the project’s significance to both the community and the coconut industry.

The Records and Archives Office (RAO) of JHCSC, led by Mrs. Mae Desiree L. Luste, continued its Basic Records Management Orientation at the Dumingag Campus in Caridad, Zamboanga del Sur, on November 13, 2024. This session followed earlier ones held at the Main Campus and Pagadian Extension Campus on October 21, 2024. Ms. Jovey P. Medina, a faculty member from the School of Arts and Sciences and former Records Officer at RAO, served as the guest speaker.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region IX, led by Regional Director Dr. Rody P. Garcia, together with Dr. Joseph Lou C. Sta. Teresa, OIC-Chief Education Program Specialist, and the Regional Quality Assessment (RQAT) Team, headed by Dr. Ma. Grace F. Gurdiel, Dean of the College of Nursing and School of Midwifery at the DMC – College Foundation, visited the JHCSC School of Nursing (SON) for a program evaluation on November 12, 2024, at the JHCSC Pagadian Extension Campus.

On November 13, 2024, Syntegral Global Solutions (SGS) held an orientation seminar and MOA consultation at the JHCSC Pagadian Extension Campus Hostel. Led by Mr. Bryan K. Thomas, CEO of SGS, to collaborate with J.H. Cerilles State College under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. The event aimed to foster collaboration between government agencies, universities, and private partners to develop sustainable agricultural solutions for communities in Zamboanga del Sur.
