In observance of Fire Prevention Month, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Regional Office IX – Pagadian City Central Fire Station conducted a symposium and forum at JHCSC Pagadian City Extension Campus on March 7, 2025. With the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa!” the event was facilitated by the Office of Student Affairs, led by Mrs. Janniece L. Magsayo, in collaboration with Mr. Joniel Calibo, NSTP Coordinator, and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) Officers, with the support of Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, Pagadian Campus Director.

The event brought together faculty, staff, and students for an in-depth discussion on fire safety and emergency preparedness. BFP personnel conducted a series of lectures on critical fire safety topics, including “Fire Safety Awareness” by FO1 Engel Jericho Rubia, “Parts and Mechanism of Action of Fire Extinguishers” by FO1 Mansari Tanog, “Personal Protective Equipment” by FO1 Joseph Vincent Tuble, and “Basic Life Support” by FO3 Neil Ivan Redelosa.

The symposium aimed to equip the JHCSC community with essential knowledge on fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation procedures while highlighting the importance of proactive safety measures. Through discussions and demonstrations, participants learned to assess risks, use firefighting equipment, and follow evacuation protocols effectively. The forum also allowed attendees to engage with BFP personnel, address concerns, and deepen their understanding of fire safety.

This initiative reinforces JHCSC’s commitment to safety and preparedness. By collaborating with safety experts, the institution ensures that students, faculty, and staff are well-informed about fire hazards and equipped to respond effectively to emergencies. This proactive approach underscores JHCSC’s dedication to maintaining a secure learning environment where fire safety remains a priority.
