The Clinical Education Program (CLEP) students from the JHCSC School of Law, in partnership with the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Molave District, organized a free legal aid event on October 25, 2024, at the Molave Municipal Jail in Mabuhay, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur. This initiative was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding between the BJMP and the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS), aiming to extend essential legal assistance to those in need.

Key figures in attendance included JSINP Neil L. Talibong, Jail Warden of Molave Municipal Jail; Atty. Hilda C. Quimado-Magbanua, District Head of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Molave District Office, Zamboanga Peninsula; and Ms. Maria Louize Jann N. Rosalinda, Administrative Aide IV. Also present were 26 CLEP students and 24 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).

Atty. Quimado provided expert legal aid to the PDL while CLEP students observed, gaining firsthand insights into client interactions and case management. This practical experience is crucial for their Practice Court I course, bridging academic knowledge with real-world application and preparing them for the demands of legal practice.

Following the legal aid activity, the CLEP students, with the assistance of BJMP personnel, proceeded to distribute gifts to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs). This collaborative effort fostered connection and goodwill as students and BJMP staff extended their support through these thoughtful gifts. The gesture was warmly received by the PDLs, adding a compassionate touch to the legal aid initiative and underscoring the students’ commitment to service and community impact.
