The JHCSC officials, led by Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation (VPRERG), in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), conducted an ocular visit and survey of the proposed Abaca plantation at JHCSC Dapiwak, Dumingag Campus, Zamboanga del Sur. The activity took place from October 16-17 and 21-23, 2024.

Key officials involved in the inspection included Dr. Cleofe A. Baterna, Jr., PDO Director; Dr. Moises Glenn G. Tangalin, Dumingag Campus Director; Engr. Pangasian Mamintas, PPFMO; For. Larnie Galiste, LUDIP Focal; and Geodetic Engr. Arnold T. Tanondong led the GIS mapping process to determine the boundaries and exact location of the proposed plantation site. Engr. Archel Bacus and other planning officers also participated, providing support for the overall assessment and coordination of the project.

The primary objective of the visit was to thoroughly assess the 300-hectare land area located within Dapiwak, Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur, designated for the proposed Abaca plantation in partnership with Syntegral Global Solutions, headed by CEO Mr. Bryan K. Thomas. This site is within a protected and conserved zone, subjecting to specific environmental regulations set by the DENR. The survey results are significant for obtaining the necessary certification from DENR, ensuring that the project complies with environmental protection guidelines before proceeding with the development. -RMOJ
