The JHCSC School of Nursing (SoN) launched the National Nurses’ Week 2024 celebration on October 21, 2024, at the Pagadian Extension Campus during the Flag Raising Ceremony. This year’s theme, “Championing the Welfare of Filipino Nurses towards a Sustainable Nursing Workforce,” highlights the commitment to improving the conditions and support for nurses across the Philippines.

Proclamation No. 539 declares the last week of October each year as Nurses’ Week and authorizes the Filipino Nurses’ Association to oversee the observance. In line with this, the SoN, under Prof. Marjo Malabanan’s leadership, will conduct a series of activities facilitated by the Nursing Student Body Organization (NSBO) headed by President Mark Lee O. Gotuman.

On October 23, the Pagadian Extension Campus will host free vital sign assessments, capillary blood glucose (CBG) monitoring, and dental services in collaboration with the School Clinic, which aims to promote health awareness and provide essential services to the JHCSC community.

Following this, a Blood Donation Drive with the Philippine Red Cross is scheduled for October 24, encouraging students and staff to contribute to this vital cause. The celebration will culminate on Friday, October 25, 2024, with an activity recognizing and uplifting the nursing profession. -EMP
