Under the visionary leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, a new era of communication dawned with the launch of the groundbreaking JHCSC PULSE News Broadcasting Program.
Spearheaded by the Information and Public Affairs Office (IPAO) of the Presidential Management Office (PMO), this milestone was celebrated with flair on August 8, 2024, during the College’s ASEAN Day festivities at the Main Campus, Maceda Student Center in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
During the program, the Information and Public Affairs Office Director, Mr. Homer T. Lao, MSc., before formally launching the “JHCSC PULSE”, shared first the inspiration behind the said initiative. He emphasized that the institution urgently needed to holistically disseminate information from the three organic campuses and one annex campus to the public and stakeholders. Adding to the limited resources and workforce, his office sought a solution to integrate campus information and image into a unified program.
“Thanks to the sharp and decisive leadership of our dynamic College President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, the idea of a system-wide news and broadcast program across all campuses was conceived. This program keeps everyone updated on events, programs, accomplishments, and milestones achieved within our institution. As well as in preparation for the institution’s hosting of the MASTS Games 2024. Thus, the “JHCSC PULSE” news broadcasting program was born,” Director Lao said.
He added that President Rosales has strategized that the IPAO should collaborate with student publications across campuses to form a unified information dissemination arm for the institution. To equip the team with the necessary skills, the IPAO Team, with expert resource speakers and trainers, conducted a comprehensive training seminar on broadcasting, news writing, photography, videography, video editing, and graphic lay-outing last July 30-31, 2024, to six (6) Student-Media with their Student Publication Advisers per campus in their respective specialization.
“Today, these student media “JHCSC PULSE” teams from the four campuses are well-prepared and equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to elevate the image of our institution to new heights”, he concluded.
Likewise, the Student Publication advisers have shown exceptional dedication to enhancing campus communications and promoting the institution’s reputation. Mrs. Jezreel V. Vicedo of The Journey at the Main and Pagadian Annex Campuses, along with Mrs. Jackie J. Valderrama of The Insider at the Dumingag Campus and Mrs. Celemin B. Cuajotor of The Heights Courier at the Lakewood Campus, have committed themselves to elevating their campuses’ information drive and advancing the institution’s prestige.
In his message, Pres. Rosales lauded the IPAO and “JHCSC PULSE” Team led by Director Homer T. Lao for its formal launching, a memorable one to which it was initiated in the first year of his service as the 6th President of JHCSC on his second term of office.
“This is the first time that the institution’s four campuses have this unified and system-wide information dissemination program. And the effectiveness of the program will be gauged on the coverage of the institution’s hosting of the MASTS Games 2024 this coming September,” he said.
“JHCSC 𝙋𝙐𝙇𝙎𝙀, which means 𝙋romoting, 𝙐nprecedented, 𝙇atest 𝙐pdates, 𝙎erving JHCSC for 𝙀xcellence, will play an important role in communicating and disseminating information about sports and socio-cultural events and activities. To all the people behind the IPAO and “JHCSC Pulse,” Congratulations! I salute to all of you!,” Pres. Rosales lauded.
