“Championing Excellence: Honoring our Past and Building our Future through Sports, Teamwork, and Unity” is the theme for the 23rd Founding Anniversary of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), celebrated this month of August. This month-long celebration began today, August 9, 2024, at Main Campus College Gymnasium, Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, facilitated by the Supervising Administrative Office, spearheaded by Mrs. Snooky Bemia A. Beboso, MBA.
Attendees included JHCSC College Officials, Faculty, Staff, Students, and distinguished guests such as San Miguel Municipality SB Member Hon. Rosela E. Patigayon and Parents-Teachers Association President Mr. Santiago O. Arig, Jr. Representing San Miguel Municipality Mayor Ex D. Ocapan, SB Member Patigayon delivered a message highlighting the importance of celebrating the founding anniversary of the institution.
In the event, the JHCSC Live Band gives an energetic performance, entertaining the audience with live music. Moreover, men’s and women’s varsity volleyball and basketball teams showcased their talents in a dance intermission. The Buswak Dance Ensemble, headed by Culture and the Arts Director Mr. Joseph Salimbangon, also performed traditional cultural dances and led an engaging Mob Dance.
Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said, “On this Launching of the 23rd Founding Anniversary, we come together to honor our past, celebrate our present achievements, and envision a bright future ahead” stating the significance of celebrating the milestone of JHCSC. In her remarks, she reflected on the College journey from a modest Barangay High School to a thriving State College, a reminder of the growth and transformation of the institution.
President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales added fun to the celebration by performing lively songs, and the attendees joined him through a dance. Looking ahead, President Rosales, in his message, announced the Foundation Month series of upcoming events, including a Mobile Founding Celebration at the Dumingag and Lakewood Campuses, a sports festival, an employees’ night where he will also deliver the State of the College Address, and an alumni night at the main campus.
Resource Generation Director Mr. Ruel Lasagas, who represented Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation, delivered the closing remarks. He underscored that the participants’ collective unity and enthusiastic engagement are the key to a successful celebration.
According to President Rosales, the Month-Long Foundation Celebration will culminate on August 30, 2024, at the Pagadian Annex, featuring a Pasalubong Package Competition and an Integrated Program for the Culmination of Buwan ng Wika, promising a grand finale to a month of dynamic activities and reflections. -EMP
