“Maligayang pagdating at magandang pagbabalik,” a heartfelt greeting of J.H. Cerilles State College President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales to the first-year and returning students who gathered together in a class opening activity at the Main Campus College Gymnasium, Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, held on August 7, 2024, aims to begin the academic year with camaraderie, enthusiasm, and pride.
The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, spearheaded by Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, organized this event, which features the First Flag Raising Ceremony, the Welcome Program, and the Kick-Off Activity for Buwan ng Wika. JHCSC College Key Officials, Faculty, and Staff, along with the students, engaged in this activity and were encouraged to wear Filipino attire, celebrating Filipino culture and heritage.
President Rosales emphasized the importance of celebrating Filipino talent and pride in his address. “Bilang pangulo ng JHCSC, hinikayat ko ang lahat na ipakita natin ang ating galing at talento bilang isang Pilipino,” he said. He also outlined that the week’s focus would be diagnostic assessments and delivering syllabi content rather than commencing formal classes, ensuring that students are well-prepared and ready for the academic year.
The ceremony also served as a platform to introduce JHCSC’s key officials. In addition, the deans of each school presented their program chairs and faculty members, providing students with valuable information on whom to approach with their concerns. This initiative aims to enhance communication and support throughout the academic year.
As JHCSC embarks on a new academic journey, the unity and enthusiasm displayed at today’s event promises a year filled with academic growth, achievement, and rich cultural celebration.
