JHCSC PULSE Two-Day Training Workshops Concludes with Impressive Student Media Output Presentations

To mark a successful conclusion to the JHCSC Pulse Training Workshop conducted by the Information and Public Affairs Office (IPAO), the student media representatives across J.H. Cerilles State College Campuses, including Main and Pagadian Annex (The Journey), Dumingag (The Insider), and Lakewood (The Heights Courier), presented their collaborative projects on July 31, 2024 at New Roxan Hotel Function Hall, Pagadian City.
Mr. Gideon C. Corgue, MPA, MT, MAED, RMN DXPR Broadcast Journalist/News Writer, critiqued the presented work of each student publication team in various categories: Print News, News Feature Articles, Photography, Videography, and Broadcasting. Based on Mr. Corgue’s evaluations, the IPAO recognized the following publication teams for their exceptional outputs:
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 (𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠): Awarded Best in Broadcasting, Photography, Videography, News Print, and News Writing. Ms. Shellame Villaruz was honored as the Best Writer for her outstanding writing skills.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫 (𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝): Best in Video Editing, reflecting the ability of their video editor to create compelling and well-edited video content.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 (𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧): Best in Layout, demonstrating the exceptional talent of their layout artist in designing visually appealing and well-organized publications.

Following the recognition, representatives from each team provided feedback on the workshop, expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge. They conveyed that the training equipped them with valuable techniques and inspired them to apply their learning to elevate their campus publications and promote the JHCSC public image.
Mr. Homer T. Lao, IPAO Director, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated student media participants and their advisers: Mrs. Jezreel V. Verallo for The Journey (Main and Pagadian Annex), Mrs. Jackie J. Valderrama for The Insider (Dumingag), and Mrs. Celemin B. Cuajotor for The Heights Courier (Lakewood). Mr. Lao’s acknowledgment underscored the significant impact of their commitment, which played a vital role in the workshop’s overall success.
Additionally, Mr. Lao is grateful to his IPAO staff for their contributions to the lectures and technical support: Ms. Prym Crio D. Postrero (Broadcaster), Mrs. Edelyn M. Pelaez (Writer), Mr. Edilberto B. Mendez, Jr. (Layout Artist), Mr. Kervin Jay V. Timtim (Videographer), and Mr. Ralph Dale D. Ramirez (Photographer).
Looking ahead, JHCSC, under the leadership of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, will host the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) event in September 2024. The recent workshop has empowered student media representatives to collaborate with IPAO to cover the MASTS event, with another training session scheduled for a week before the event to ensure comprehensive and effective media coverage. -EMP
