JHCSC MSERM Students Facilitate a Seminar on the Application of Geographical Information System

J.H. Cerilles State College Master of Science in Environmental Resource Management (JHCSC-MSERM) Students, spearheaded by Program Chair Rosanilio M. Yagos, facilitated a seminar on the Application of Geographical Information System (GIS) on June 01, 2024, at JHCSC Main Campus, Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
Themed “Geospatial Solutions for Urban Planning and Environmental Management and GIS in Education: Harnessing the Power of Geographic Information Systems (GIS),” the event was actively participated by the students from the JHCSC Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) Program guided by Instructor Joe Calanda.

Distinguished speakers at the seminar included Mr. Leo Bais, a Forester from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR); Engr. Wayne Banaybanay from Northwest Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSCST); and Ms. Roxcette Mandao, an MSERM student from Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST).
It aimed to equip Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science students with GIS skills, empowering them to analyze environmental issues, propose data-driven solutions, and balance urban development with environmental protection.
