Showcasing outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, Mr. Lloid Delos Santos, a Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd Mathematics I) student from the School of Teacher Education (STE) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), outperformed other contenders from various institutions across Zamboanga del Sur and emerged as the Champion in the 29th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) โ Provincial Eliminations, held on October 28, 2025, at Four Queens Resort, Tuburan District, Pagadian City.
The Philippine Statistics Authority organized the competition in collaboration with the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc., themed โThe Search for the Countryโs Young Statistics Whizzes!โ It aimed to promote statistical literacy among the youth and inspire students to apply their knowledge of statistics in addressing real-world challenges.
Joining Mr. Delos Santos in representing JHCSC were Frencislyn M. Bustamante (BSEd Mathematics I) and Dilson D. Martinez, II (BSCE I) under the mentorship of Mr. Romy Liwagon, BSEd Mathematics Instructor. Among the three of them, Mr. Delos Santos successfully advanced through all rounds of the competition and was recognized as the Provincial Young Statistics Whiz of Zamboanga del Sur by securing the top spot, qualifying him to represent the province in the regional competition.
Mr. Delos Santosโ victory demonstrates his dedication and academic competence, bringing pride and honor to JHCSC. It also reflects the quality of education offered by the STE BSEd Mathematics program and reinforces the Collegeโs commitment to nurturing future mathematics educators and innovators.
