J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) commenced its online accreditation process under the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) today, March 26, 2025. The accreditation, scheduled from March 26 to 28, 2025, evaluates programs under the 3rd survey phase.

The programs undergoing the 3rd survey accreditation include the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) Program at the Main Campus, which is undergoing a Phase 2 revisit focusing on the area of instruction. Additionally, at the Dumingag Campus, the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) Program is also undergoing a Phase 2 revisit in instruction, alongside the Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim) Program, which is undergoing a Phase 2 Visit.

The online accreditation opening program featured the presentation of JHCSC officials and the AACCUP Local Task Force. Dean Dr. Mark E. Patalighog leads the BSCrim program accreditation, while Dean Dr. Starr Clyde L. Sebial spearheads the BEEd program accreditation.

Mr. Vicpher D. Garnada, JHCSC’s Quality Assurance Director, introduced the AACCUP Accreditation Survey Team, composed of:

Dr. Renelda P. Nacianceno – Associate Professor V at Iloilo Science and Technology University, AACCUP Coordinator, and Team Leader for the BEEd Program, 3rd Survey Phase 2 Revisit in the Main and Dumingag Campuses.
Dr. Eduardo D. Masirag – Associate Professor V at Bulacan State University, Team Leader for the BSCrim Program, Phase 2 Visit at Dumingag Campus.
Dr. Wilfredo D. Dalugdog – Associate Professor II at Laguna State Polytechnic College University, Lead Accreditor for the BSCrim Program.

Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the importance of the accreditation process in her welcome remarks, stating, “This accreditation is about critically evaluating our own practices, engaging in thoughtful reflection, and making the necessary adjustments that will drive us toward greater success.”

Meanwhile, in his message, President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales expressed his hope for JHCSC’s continued advancement in accreditation levels. “When I went back to JHCSC, I was expecting that there were already programs that have reached level III because that was 4 years ago, but it’s a challenge we may cape up,” he remarked and emphasized that moving from Level II to Level III accreditation is crucial as it is one of the primary requirements for JHCSC to offer Ph.D. programs. Furthermore, he stressed that achieving this milestone would help comply with one of the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) requirements for the institution’s universityhood conversion.

AACCUP Coordinator Dr. Nacianceno affirmed the team’s commitment to supporting JHCSC in achieving academic excellence. “We, the AACUP Accreditors, are very much with you in raising the bar of excellence for your three programs,” she said, emphasizing that the accreditation process is a collaborative effort to ensure quality assurance.

The AACCUP accreditors expressed their appreciation for JHCSC’s unwavering dedication and perseverance in elevating academic standards. They look forward to working productively with the JHCSC Local Task Force during the three-day Level III, Phase 2 accreditation survey. The accreditation process will conclude with the exit conference and closing program on Friday, March 28, 2025.
