In preparation for the transition of graduating students into the professional world, the Guidance and Counseling Office of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Pagadian Campus, under the leadership of Ms. Catherine D. Cabal, RGC, RPM, conducted a two-day Employment Coaching and Job Fair on May 12–13, 2025.
The activity was carried out with the support of the Pagadian Campus Director, Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, represented by Mr. Marjo S. Malabanan, Dean of the School of Nursing (SON). Anchored on the theme, “Stronger Skills, Bolder Vision: Launching JHCSCian Graduates Into the Professional World,” the program aimed to equip students with the competencies and confidence needed for employment.
Graduating students from various programs, including BSED-English, BSN, BSIT, BSEntrep, BS Tourism, and BSHM, actively participated in the event. Hon. Janray C. Yu, Mayor of the Municipality of Labangan, also graced the occasion and delivered an inspirational message on behalf of Hon. Joseph Kim C. Yu, Congressman of the Second District of Zamboanga del Sur.
The first day focused on employment coaching sessions facilitated by invited speakers from different fields. Ms. Althea Nicole Paradiang discussed “The Art of Resume Writing for Career Success,” followed by Ms. Marie Rose T. Berjamie, who tackled “Personality: The Character Behind the Career.” Dr. Julito V. Mandac, Jr. concluded the lecture series with his discussion on “Mastering the Job Hunt and Interview Process.”
The second day featured a Job Fair that provided graduating students with opportunities to connect directly with participating agencies and companies. The activity allowed students to explore potential career opportunities, submit application requirements, and gain firsthand experience in professional recruitment processes. It also served as a venue for students to engage with employers and better understand industry expectations and employment opportunities available to them.
The initiative served as a meaningful step in bridging academic preparation and employment readiness. Through expert-led discussions and employment opportunities offered during the Job Fair, the Guidance and Counseling Office reaffirmed its commitment to developing competent, confident, and career-ready JHCSCians prepared to meet the challenges of the professional world.
Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
