The MASTS Committee convened on October 29, 2024, at the Pagadian Extension Campus to finalize the preparations for the MASTS Games 2024. Held in the 3rd-floor Conference Room of the I.T. Building, the meeting, presided over by Mr. Manuel C. Paster, Jr., ManCom Chairman, brought together key leaders, including Dr. Nelson P. Cabral, President of the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) and Zamboanga Peninsula Polytechnic State University, along with directors and coordinators of Sports and Culture and the Arts from various State Universities and Colleges (SUCs).

The School of Nursing (SON), led by Dean Prof. Marjo Malabanan, held its “Night in Gale Season 3: Euphoria” on October 25, 2024, at Pavilion Hall in Dao, Pagadian City. This event united students and faculty for an evening of fashion and camaraderie, with attendees showcasing glamorous attire in line with the “Euphoria” dress code, adding vibrancy to the celebration.

In line with the Nurses’ Week Celebration, the School of Nursing (SON), under the leadership of Dean Prof. Marjo S. Malaban, organized free health services for the JHCSC community at the Pagadian Extension Campus. This initiative was spearheaded by the Nursing Student Body Organization (NSBO), led by its president, Mr. Mark Lee O. Gotuman, and was supervised by Ms. Johanezz Tabayag, RN.

Thirteen fourth-year law students from J.H. Cerilles State College School of Law, with a supervising lawyer Atty. Johnald Z. Salomon, Public Attorney I, Aurora Zamboanga del Sur, conducted a free legal aid session for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) on October 25, 2024, at the Ramon Magsaysay District Jail, where eight individuals availed this service.

The Clinical Education Program (CLEP) students from the JHCSC School of Law, in partnership with the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Molave District, organized a free legal aid event on October 25, 2024, at the Molave Municipal Jail in Mabuhay, Molave, Zamboanga del Sur. This initiative was conducted under the Memorandum of Understanding between the BJMP and the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS), aiming to extend essential legal assistance to those in need.

The Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance (OVPAF), under the leadership of Mr. Wilfredo Barnido, Jr., held a formal turnover ceremony on October 25, 2024, at JHCSC Lakewood Campus, marking a significant transition in leadership. Themed “A New Chapter of Leadership: Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future,” the event gathered faculty and staff to witness the official transfer of directorship. Notably, Dr. Cleofe Baterna, Jr., Planning Director, was also in attendance, delivering closing remarks.

Representatives from J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC), including Atty. Romylyn O. Regidor, Dean of the School of Law; Atty. Esther Marie S. Ringon, Legal Officer, accompanied by Mr. Denise Caesar Bongalon and Mr. Cristian Amor Baya, participated in a vital workshop on data privacy awareness and compliance conducted by Yisrael Solutions & Training Center, held from October 22 to 24, 2024, at the 49th Floor One San Miguel Building, Pasig, Metro Manila. JHCSC delegation joined representatives from various government and private institutions processing personal data across the Philippines.

The JHCSC officials, led by Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation (VPRERG), in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), conducted an ocular visit and survey of the proposed Abaca plantation at JHCSC Dapiwak, Dumingag Campus, Zamboanga del Sur. The activity took place from October 16-17 and 21-23, 2024.

J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus has been granted a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) by the Commission on Higher Education Region Office IX to offer the Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSF) program, issued on September 24, 2024. The COPC affirms that the BSF program meets all the necessary academic and operational requirements to deliver excellent forestry education.

In celebration of the Founding Anniversary of the National Archives of the Philippines, the Records and Archives Office (RAO), led by Mrs. Mae Desiree L. Luste, Records Officer II, organized its inaugural Basic Records Management Orientation today, October 21, 2024, at the Library AVR, JHCSC Main Campus in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur.
