The JHCSC-Pagadian Health Services Unit, spearheaded by Ms. Niko Marie T. Caseñas, Clinic In-Charge, with the support of Prof. Marjo S. Malabanan, Dean of the School of Nursing, and Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, Campus Director, successfully conducted the Blood Letting Activity 2026. The initiative was carried out in partnership with the Red Cross 143 – JHCSC Pagadian Council led by President Krischan Kyle Tayurang, the Nursing Student Body Organization (NSBO) under President Juanie G. Marchan, and NARS CARE. The activity, held at the Skills Laboratory, Nursing Building, JHCSC–Pagadian, was conducted in close coordination with the medical and technical team from the Philippine Red Cross Zamboanga del Sur–Pagadian Chapter, with their full support.
The blood donation drive brought together students, faculty members, administrators, and partner organizations in a unified campus-wide initiative aimed at promoting public health and community welfare. Faculty, staff, and student volunteers worked together to ensure a smooth and efficient activity, highlighting the strong collaborative spirit of the JHCSC–Pagadian community.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness of voluntary blood donation, strengthen the campus-level blood supply system, and promote a culture of compassion, social responsibility, and volunteerism, facilitated by Dr. Rey Andrew L. Ruelos, Provincial Doctor. Donors underwent preliminary health screenings, which provided valuable insights into their well-being and allowed for the early detection of potential health concerns. This approach ensured that participants benefited both themselves and the wider community through safe and informed donation practices.
At the conclusion of the activity, a total of 142 bags of blood were successfully collected, reflecting the active participation of the campus community and partner organizations. The accomplishment reaffirmed JHCSC’s commitment to advancing public health, saving lives, and fostering a culture of service and volunteerism within and beyond the campus. The success of this activity exemplified the college’s dedication to transforming lives not only through education but also through meaningful public service and community engagement.
Soar high, J.H. Cerilles State College!
