The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs of JHCSC, headed by Dr. Vilma C. Grengia with the support of President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, spearheaded the first-ever One Vision, One Community: Academe-Industry-LGU Summit 2025 on August 18, 2025, at the JHCSC Hostel, Pagadian City Extension Campus. The event was held in line with JHCSC\u2019s 24th Founding Anniversary celebration and gathered representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), National Line Agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), CHED officials, members of the Board of Trustees, and JHCSC key officials.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

In her welcome message, Dr. Grengia underscored the importance of strong partnerships, stressing that leadership must evolve through collaboration. \u201cWe need each other, we need our government officials, we need our agency and industry partners. Let\u2019s work together to plan and build strong policies and share our resources,\u201d she said.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

President Rosales, for his part, lauded the initiative of the OVPAA, reminding participants that institutions should not compete but instead complement and collaborate. He also shared the proposed new vision, mission, quality policy, and core values that will guide JHCSC once it transitions into Zamboanga del Sur State University.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The program featured presentations from participating HEIs in Zamboanga del Sur, highlighting their academic offerings, best practices, and challenges. Representing CHED ROIX Regional Director Atty. Marco Cicero F. Domingo, Dr. Joe-an G. Cuaresma, Education Supervisor II for Teacher Education Discipline, discussed pressing issues and challenges faced by HEIs, CHED\u2019s priority directions, and ongoing initiatives designed to address these realities in higher education.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

An open forum followed, facilitated by Dr. Grengia, where participants discussed education-related concerns in the province. Atty. Romylyn O. Regidor, Dean of the JHCSC School of Law, led the call for collaboration and commitment among HEIs and partner sectors. This was followed by the formal organization of the Academe-based Provincial Inter-agency Council (APIC) and the election of its officers, facilitated by Atty. Princess Rosal B. Inclan, JHCSC OIC-Registrar.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The event concluded with the signing of a commitment pledge and the first meeting of the newly elected APIC officers. As part of the 24th Founding Anniversary, the summit affirmed JHCSC\u2019s role in uniting the academe, industry, and government toward a shared vision of advancing education and addressing challenges in the province.<\/div>\n
