The J.H. Cerilles State College\u2014School of Graduate Studies (JHCSC-SGS) held an orientation on August 16, 2025, at the BSIT Building Conference Room, Pagadian City Extension Campus. Facilitated by the SGS Student Council, the activity gathered new and second-year graduate students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Education (MAEd), Master of Science in Environmental Resources Management (MSERM), and Master of Agricultural Development (MAgDev) programs, equipping them with a strong foundation for their academic journey at JHCSC Pagadian Campus.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Dr. Frederick P. Grengia, SGS faculty, welcomed the attendees and delivered an inspiring message,citing JHCSC\u2019s highly qualified faculty and staff, affordable tuition, strong research culture, and Level II accreditation status as key reasons for pursuing graduate studies at the College. \u201cWe will try our best, even if our best is not enough for you,\u201d he encouraged the students.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Dr. Patricia D. Bahian, SGS Dean, introduced the SGS faculty and staff, as well as the graduate students by program, emphasizing that the increase in enrollees reflects the growing trust in JHCSC\u2019s graduate programs. The introduction also aimed to acquaint students with their professors and peers, fostering a sense of belonging and stronger academic connections.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Various JHCSC offices and units also presented the services available to graduate students. The Guidance and Counseling Office discussed programs that support students\u2019 mental health and personal development. The Office of Student Affairs and Support Services (OSASS) outlined assistance related to student welfare, scholarships, and co-curricular activities. The Campus Library highlighted available learning resources and research support, while the School Clinic emphasized health services and medical assistance accessible to students.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Office of the Registrar likewise reminded students to comply with the required submissions and urged them to prepare hardbound copies of their theses before graduation. This aligns with JHCSC\u2019s best practice, initiated by President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, of releasing original TORs and Diplomas during the commencement exercises.<\/div>\n

Overall, the orientation equipped graduate students with vital information, introduced them to essential offices and services, and fostered a sense of academic community at JHCSC.<\/div>\n
