J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) formalized its commitment to academic and research collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with key partner institutions during the 1st Environmental Science Research Congress hosted by Mindanao State University (MSU) Buug Campus on June 16\u201318, 2025. The event carried the theme \u201cRevolutionizing Our Response to Climate Change: Cutting-Edge Research and Technologies Paving the Way for a Low-Carbon Future!\u201d and was led by Dr. Bryan Bitantos, MSU Buug\u2019s Research Director and Dean of the College of Forestry and Environmental Studies, with full support from Chancellor Dr. Sheila Magolama.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The MOU signing took place on the first day of the congress, June 16, and brought together JHCSC, MSU Buug, Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology, and Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology. The agreement aims to establish a collaborative partnership focused on enhancing academic programs, promoting research and innovation, and strengthening community extension. It also seeks to facilitate the exchange of faculty, knowledge, and resources and initiate joint projects aligned with national priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4, 9, and 17.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Representing JHCSC was Professor Ruel S. Lasagas, Director for Research and Resource Generation, who signed the agreement on behalf of JHCSC President Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales. Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES), BSES faculty members, and selected students were also in attendance. Their presence underscored the college\u2019s active involvement in environmental education and research.<\/div>\n

The three-day congress gathered researchers, educators, and students from various institutions to explore solutions for climate action, especially in the context of low-carbon development. Through this MOU and its participation in the event, JHCSC reinforces its dedication to fostering partnerships and generating research that drives sustainable progress and environmental resilience.<\/div>\n
