The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) Program, led by Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, BSES Program Chair, with the support of SAFES Dean Dr. Jerry B. Superales, conducted its 2nd Pinning Ceremony for Batch Simpan on June 11, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus Gymnasium in Mati, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. Themed \u201cIgniting Change: Turning Environmental Science Into Action,\u201d the event gathered faculty, staff, and 3rd-year students from BSES 3 \u2013 Air and BSES 3 \u2013 Water alongside their proud parents.\n<\/div>\n

In his welcome address, Dr. Yagos expressed his admiration for the students\u2019 progress and commitment. \u201cIt is with great pride that we join together here to celebrate this significant milestone in our academic and professional journey to our 3rd year BSES students,\u201d he stated, emphasizing the importance of the pinning ceremony as a mark of transition into the next phase of their academic pursuit.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Ms. Anjie Lyn R. Enga\u00f1o, the guest speaker for the said event, delivered a heartfelt message of encouragement, reminding students that their pace in life is valid. \u201cEven if you feel like falling behind, that is okay. What matters most is that you show up,\u201d she shared, resonating with the students and parents in attendance.<\/div>\n

As part of the program, Mr. Joe Michael Calanda conducted an orientation for parents and students regarding the upcoming deployment of on-the-job trainees (OJT), detailing their assignments in various environmental agencies. These include the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) \u2013 Zamboanga del Sur, the PENRO of the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) \u2013 ZDS, and the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) \u2013 Guipos. This was followed by the official presentation and pinning of students, with a total of ninety (90) 3rd-year BSES students officially pinned.<\/div>\n

This event marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of the students, serving as both a celebration of their achievements and a call to action to apply their environmental science knowledge in real-world contexts. It underscored the program\u2019s commitment to producing future environmental advocates who are ready to create sustainable change in their communities.<\/div>\n
