The J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) marked Earth Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration on April 22, 2025, at the JHCSC Main Campus, Gymnasium, spearheaded by the School of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environmental Studies (SAFES) JHCSC Main Campus, Gymnasium. The event was led by Ms. Dawn Majan, President of the JHCSC Environmental Science Society, under the guidance of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) Program Chair Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, with the support of Main Campus Director Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo. The celebration aimed to promote environmental awareness and action among the academic community.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Key figures in attendance included Dr. Moibe F. Olitres, RGC, RPsy, Focal Person of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and Ms. Perlaida Puno, RSW, MTSW, adviser of the Junior Social Work Association of the Philippines (JSWAP). Guest of honor, For. Nomar Ramoncito, Program Chair of the Bachelor of Science in Forestry, joined the event alongside the resource speaker For. Allan B. Tac-an, who delivered a talk on the importance of forests. Students from various departments, faculty members, and staff actively participated in the day\u2019s activities.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The Earth Day celebration began with a tree planting activity featuring Pterocarpus indicus, commonly known as the Narra Tree, the national tree of the Philippines. This was followed by a symposium held at the campus gymnasium, which served as a platform for knowledge-sharing and environmental advocacy. To further engage students, the event also featured competitions such as a Digital Poster Making Contest, Photography Contest, Videography Contest, and the Ecobricks Challenge.<\/div>\n

In his speech, For. Ramoncito highlighted the symbolic importance of planting Narra trees, describing it as a meaningful step toward environmental responsibility. Dr. Abapo, in her closing message, encouraged students to use education and leadership as tools to create a more sustainable future. The event ended on a hopeful note, reinforcing the college\u2019s commitment to environmental stewardship and active participation in global climate efforts.<\/div>\n
