The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES) celebrated BSES Day 2025 on March 21, 2025, at the J.H. Cerilles State College \u2013 Main Campus Gymnasium, with the theme \u201cWaves of Change: Empowering Environmental Stewards.\u201d The event, facilitated by the JHCSC Environmental Science Society under the leadership of Ms. Dawn Majan and with the support of BSES Program Chair Dr. Rosanilio M. Yagos, aimed to inspire action in environmental conservation while engaging the campus community in fun and educational activities.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Notable personalities graced the event, including Research Director Mr. Ruel Lasagas, who highlighted the importance of becoming environmental stewards. He emphasized the need for collective efforts to promote conservation and protect the environment. Additionally, BSES faculty member Ms. Jo-Ann Enga\u00f1o, MSc, led a discussion on environmental issues in the Philippines, encouraging attendees to take action and become catalysts for change. Faculty, staff, and students from the BSES program actively participated in the event.<\/div>\n

BSES Day 2025 showcased a diverse array of competitions in arts, sports, and music, displaying the talents of the students. The event also recognized outstanding individuals, awarding certificates to the Philippine Environmental Science Olympiad (PESO) participants, BSES students who participated in SAFES Day 2024, Dean\u2019s Listers, and the JHCSC representative at the 13th FASMin Congress. A key highlight was the presentation of the ECO Bricks project, introduced by Ms. Majan. This sustainable initiative uses clean, dry, non-recyclable plastic waste to create reusable building blocks. Each year level also formed unique group names\u2014District 1 Luxury (1st year), District 2 Masonry (2nd year), District 3 Technology (3rd year), and District 4 Fishing (4th year)\u2014to add a competitive and fun element to the event.<\/div>\n

One of the most anticipated segments of the day was the Mr. and Ms. Enbaysay 2025 pageant, where contestants showcased their creativity, charm, and wit. They presented their District Attire and Trashion Attire, both made from upcycled materials. After the competition, the titles of Mister and Miss Enbaysay 2025 were awarded to the representatives from District 4 \u2013 Fishing (4th year), marking a successful conclusion to the pageant.<\/div>\n

In his remarks, Dr. Yagos stressed each student\u2019s vital role as a steward of the environment, emphasizing their responsibility in the fight for sustainability. He encouraged everyone to continue working together to protect the planet. The event concluded on a hopeful note, motivating attendees to take action and advocate for environmental change.<\/div>\n
