The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) hosted a two-day preparatory seminar for its students at the J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Main Campus Gymnasium on January 30 and February 1. The seminar was themed \u201cSkills for Success in the Workplace,\u201d which aims to equip students with valuable skills for their upcoming internships. The event was organized by Ms. Jovey P. Medina, MPA, a faculty member from SAS, who served as the seminar coordinator, with the support of the SAS Dean, Benjamin B. Mangila, Ph. D.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

On the first day, Jonah B. Salaguste, RPm, RGC, a guidance counselor, led a session covering time management, task prioritization, and techniques for managing stress and conflicts\u2014skills crucial for students transitioning to the workplace. The second day featured Mrs. Mae Desiree Luste, Director of the Records and Archive Office, who spoke about the fundamentals of records management, emphasizing the importance of good attitude, character, and courtesy in the workplace.<\/div>\n

The seminar provided valuable learning opportunities for participants, particularly for students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (BAPoS) and Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS) programs. Key faculty members who supported the event included Cherry Mae B. Liwagon, BAPoS program chair, and Arnold P. Canday, Ed.D., BAELS program chair. Their involvement highlighted the importance of faculty collaboration in enhancing the seminar\u2019s success and supporting the students\u2019 professional development.<\/div>\n

By addressing key aspects of professional success, such as time management, stress management, and record-keeping, the event equipped attendees with the skills needed to excel in their internships and future careers. This seminar highlights the SAS\u2019s commitment to preparing students both academically and professionally, ensuring they are well-equipped for the demands of the workplace.<\/div>\n
