Thirteen fourth-year law students from J.H. Cerilles State College School of Law, with a supervising lawyer Atty. Johnald Z. Salomon, Public Attorney I, Aurora Zamboanga del Sur, conducted a free legal aid session for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) on October 25, 2024, at the Ramon Magsaysay District Jail, where eight individuals availed this service. <\/div>\n

By the formalized partnership of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) in providing legal support to Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), Atty. Johnald Z. Salomon gave a free legal consultation to PDLs while CLEP students engaged in observations and interactions with the supervising lawyer, participating in a question-and-answer session focused on the case of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL).<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Following the activity, CLEP students expressed their gratitude by presenting tokens of appreciation to the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) for their participation, as well as a certificate of appreciation to the supervising lawyer, with the assistance of the BJMP personnel. This collaboration underscored the commitment of all parties to the values of service and education. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The event aims to provide legal consultations to the PDLs while offering law students practical insights and experience as part of their externship program of the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP). The initiative was coordinated with Jail Warden Senior Inspector Jessie V. Fanilag and assisted by paralegal JNOR Officer Chomer L. Mutia.<\/div>\n
