JHCSC President Dr. Mary Jocelyn V. Battung and School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies (SAFES) Dean Dr. Teonita Y. Velasco with other Higher Education Institutions\u2019 (HEI\u2019s) chief executives, officials, faculty and researchers joins the 4th Nat\u2019l Organic Agriculture Scientific Conference held at Japi Hotel, Cauayan City, Isabela on August 19-23, 2019.
\nWith this year\u2019s theme OASP: \u201cPushing the Frontiers of Science towards Sustainable Organic Agriculture\u201d, the event was designed to support the implementation of RA 10068 known as the Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 that aims to serve as an avenue to disseminate the results of research and development initiatives on organic agriculture to the science community, OA practitioners, and the general public.
\nThe National Conference was organized by the Organic Agriculture Society of the Philippines(OASP) in coordination with the Isabela State University in accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act 7722 otherwise known as the \u201c Higher Education Act of 1994\u201d.
\nAgriculture Secretary William D. Dar the chair of the search committee for the 4th JHCSC President was the guest speaker of the event. In his message, he urges all public and private institutions to utilize science and technology in advancing organic agriculture.
\nAccording to Dar, the technology we are using today is the first generation or the first level only of organic agriculture but in the near future he is confident that we will be using the third or fourth generation.
\nDr. Battung in a statement says agriculture as one of the school\u2019s flagship programs, JHCSC\u2019s School of Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Studies (SAFES) led by Dean Velasco will continue to support the implementation of organic agriculture by integrating it in research and extension services. In this way, we can produce nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables product free of pesticides and other cancer causing compounds and chemicals while conserving and protecting the environment in our communities, she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
