The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) \u2013 Main Campus successfully conducted the Tribute to Parents and Recognition Day 2026 on May 27, 2026, at the Municipal Gymnasium, Poblacion, San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur. Anchored on the theme, \u201cThrough Uncertain Times, You Remained: A Tribute to Parents on the Eve of Graduation,\u201d the activity was organized to recognize the academic achievements of the graduating students and honor the immeasurable sacrifices, unwavering support, and enduring love of parents and guardians who played a significant role in the students\u2019 educational journey.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The program commenced with a prelude featuring a multimedia presentation showcasing the journey of the graduating Class of 2026. Through photographs and videos, the presentation highlighted the memorable experiences, accomplishments, challenges, and milestones of the graduates during their stay at J.H. Cerilles State College. The processional march of graduates, faculty members, administrators, and guests formally opened the program, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, invocation, and words of wisdom, which set a solemn and celebratory atmosphere for the occasion.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The participants were warmly welcomed through the Opening Remarks delivered by Dr. Benjamin B. Mangila, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences. In his message, Dr. Mangila congratulated the graduating students on completing their academic requirements and acknowledged the vital contributions of parents and guardians in shaping them into responsible and competent individuals. He emphasized that the occasion was not only a celebration of academic accomplishments but also a recognition of the sacrifices made by families in supporting the students throughout their educational journey.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

One of the most meaningful segments of the program was the Tribute to Parents and Recognition of Graduands. During this part of the ceremony, graduating students expressed their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to their parents and guardians through symbolic gestures, messages, and recognition activities. The tribute highlighted the enduring love, encouragement, and sacrifices of parents who remained steadfast in supporting their children despite various challenges and uncertainties. The emotional atmosphere created moments of joy, reflection, and gratitude among students, parents, faculty members, and guests.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The celebration was further enriched by presentations from the graduating students, including tribute songs, musical performances, dance presentations, and messages from selected representatives of the three academic programs under the School of Arts and Sciences. The representatives shared their experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and aspirations as graduating students. Their messages reflected the graduating class\u2019s collective gratitude toward their parents, mentors, faculty members, and the institution for guiding them throughout their academic journey.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

A major highlight of the program was the Inspirational Message from the College President, Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, delivered on his behalf by Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, Main Campus Director. In her message, Dr. Abapo congratulated the graduates and emphasized the distinct strengths and contributions of each academic program under the School of Arts and Sciences. She highlighted that graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (BAPOS) are equipped with expertise in leadership and governance, preparing them to become future leaders and responsible public servants. She likewise emphasized that graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) embody the spirit of service, compassion, and commitment to helping people, reflecting the profession\u2019s dedication to promoting social welfare and social justice. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Furthermore, she underscored that graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS) possess strong communication skills and reminded them that communication is the key to success in both professional and personal endeavors. Her inspiring message encouraged the graduates to use their knowledge, skills, and values to make meaningful contributions to their communities and society.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Another important component of the activity was the Presentation and Distribution of Awards, during which graduating students were recognized for their outstanding academic performance and achievements. Latin Honors awardees and other deserving students received recognition for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. The award ceremony served as a testament to the hard work and determination the graduates demonstrated throughout their years of study.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The program also featured an Acknowledgment Message delivered by Mr. Batiana, representing the parents and guardians. In his heartfelt message, he expressed sincere gratitude to the faculty, administrators, and staff of J.H. Cerilles State College for their guidance, dedication, and commitment to educating students. He also expressed his appreciation for the opportunity parents have to witness and celebrate their children\u2019s accomplishments, emphasizing the pride and fulfillment families feel on this significant occasion.<\/div>\n

As the program approached its conclusion, Dr. Frederick P. Grengia, Associate Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, delivered the Closing Remarks. He expressed gratitude to the parents, graduates, faculty members, administrators, staff, and guests whose support and participation contributed to the success of the activity. He reminded the graduates to continue pursuing excellence, uphold the values instilled by the institution, and remain committed to serving their communities with integrity, professionalism, and compassion.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The program concluded with the singing of the JHCSC Hymn, a photo opportunity, and the recessional march. The event ended on a memorable and inspiring note as graduates, parents, faculty members, and guests celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2026 and reflected on the journey that brought them to this important milestone.<\/div>\n

The SAS\u2019 Tribute to Parents and Recognition Day 2026 was successfully conducted and effectively achieved its objectives of recognizing academic excellence, honoring the sacrifices of parents and guardians, and inspiring graduates as they prepare to embark on the next chapter of their lives. The activity strengthened the bond between families and the institution while creating meaningful memories that the graduating Class of 2026 will cherish for years to come.<\/div>\n
