More than 50 graduate students showcased their thesis papers during the Third Graduate Research and Innovation Colloquium conducted by the JH Cerilles State College School of Graduate Studies on May 23, 2026, at the JHCSC-Pagadian Extension Campus, highlighting the institution\u2019s continuing push to strengthen research culture and interdisciplinary academic innovation.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The event gathered faculty members, research advisers, panelists, and administrators from the JHCSC community as students from the Master of Science in Environmental and Resource Management (MSERM), Master in Agricultural Development (MAGDEV), Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Administration (MAEd-Educational Administration), Master of Arts in Education major in Science (MAEd-Science), Master of Arts in Education major in English (MAEd-English), and Master of Arts in Education major in Filipino (MAEd-Filipino) programs presented studies addressing pressing concerns in education, development, and community-based research.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Simultaneous presentations were conducted in seven breakout rooms, allowing participants to defend and refine their studies under the evaluation of experts from various academic fields. Carrying the theme, \u201cTransferring Ideas, Empowering Futures: Expanding Interdisciplinary Horizons in Research,\u201d the colloquium emphasized the role of research in developing practical and innovative responses to challenges encountered in both educational institutions and local communities. Many of the presented papers focused on improving teaching strategies, strengthening educational leadership, enhancing community development initiatives, and creating research-driven solutions to contemporary issues. The activity was initiated by the Campus Director of JHCSC-Pagadian Extension Campus, Dr. Patricia Bahian, who underscored the importance of providing graduate students with a platform where their studies can be evaluated, improved, and shared with a wider academic audience. According to Dr. Bahian, the colloquium was designed not only to disseminate completed research studies but also to prepare students for larger scholarly engagements beyond the institution.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThe colloquium is intended for all to disseminate information regarding the research studies that our students have accomplished,\u201d Dr. Bahian said. She added that the event would help students refine their manuscripts and serve as a steppingstone as they prepare to present their papers in the international arena. Meanwhile, Dr. Jerry Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Resource Generation, emphasized the value of persistence and discipline in conducting studies, reminding participants that research goes beyond mere interest or compliance with academic requirements. \u201cResearch is not just a curiosity; it is a process,\u201d Dr. Superales said, stressing the importance of critical inquiry and continuous improvement in producing meaningful scholarly work. The colloquium forms part of JHCSC\u2019s broader initiative to cultivate research engagement among graduate students and encourage the development of studies that contribute to academic advancement and social progress. Through activities such as the colloquium, the institution continues to promote research as an essential tool for innovation, informed decision-making, and community development.\n<\/div>\n
