The faculty extensionists of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) strengthened their capabilities after completing a three-day training on Innovative Extension and Community Engagement Projects for Sustainable Community Development, held from April 22 to 24, 2026, at the HRM Hostel, Pagadian Campus. The activity, initiated by Dr. Jerry B. Superales and supported by Dr. Edgardo H. Rosales, focused on equipping participants with the competencies needed to design and implement responsive and sustainable extension initiatives.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The participants, composed of faculty-extensionists with completed and ongoing extension programs for 2026, along with staff from the Office of the Vice President for Research, Innovation, Development, and Extension (OVPRIDE) and the Community Extension Services Office (CESO), actively engaged as key contributors throughout the training. Their involvement centered on improving existing programs and developing new strategies aligned with community needs.\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Guiding the participants was resource speaker Dr. Marlowe U. Aquino, Professor and Head of the Extension Directorate of Mariano Marcos State University. Through his sessions, he provided practical insights and frameworks that helped participants better understand innovative approaches to community development and engagement.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Participants took part in interactive lectures, hands-on workshops, collaborative group activities, and experience-sharing sessions. These activities allowed them to exchange field experiences, address common challenges, and work collectively toward enhancing their extension practices.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

As a result of the training, participants were able to draft and refine project proposals, develop technical reports, and draft strategic extension plans ready for implementation in their respective communities. The collaborative environment also strengthened professional connections among faculty-extensionists and support staff.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The training concluded with participants expressing a deeper appreciation of extension work as a vital function of higher education institutions. Equipped with enhanced knowledge and skills, they are now better prepared to translate academic expertise into impactful and sustainable community-based programs.<\/div>\n
