J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW), facilitated by Program Chair Khenny B. Colocar, RSW, MSW, participated in the JSWAP Inter-School and Social Work Day 2026 held on March 19, 2026, at Our Lady of Triumph Institute of Technology, Inc. in Tugas, Balangasan District, Pagadian City. The event was organized in partnership with the National Association of Social Work Education, Inc. (NASWEI) \u2013 ZAMSURGAY Chapter under the leadership of NASWEI President, Charlito B. Gayanan, RSW, and hosted by Our Lady of Triumph Institute of Technology, Inc. The celebration carried the theme \u201cCo-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society,\u201d emphasizing unity, shared responsibility, and collaborative action in addressing social issues.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Seven schools participated in the inter-school gathering, including Eastern Mindanao College of Technology (EMCOTECH), JHCSC, Our Lady of Triumph (OLT), Southern Mindanao Colleges (SMC), Western Mindanao State University\u2013ESU Pagadian Campus (WMSU), Dr. Aurelio Mendoza Memorial Colleges (AMMC), and Ylla\u00f1a Bay View College (YBVC). Each institution was accompanied by its respective JSWAP advisers, with JHCSC represented by Ms. Perlaida Puno, RSW, MTSW, and Ms. Marie Rose Berjame, a BSSW faculty member. The event was also supported by key partner organizations, including the Philippine Association of Social Workers Inc. (PASWI), alongside NASWEI, thereby strengthening collaboration among academic institutions and professional groups.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

JHCSC demonstrated commendable performance during the event, securing third place in the Barrio Fiesta competition. Moreover, a JHCSC representative, Ms. Elmie Carillo, a BSSW 4th-year student, earned the prestigious title of Ms. JSWAP ZAMSURGAY 2026, bringing pride and recognition to the institution. These achievements underscored the competence, creativity, and active engagement of JHCSC social work students in inter-school activities.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The event concluded with a strong sense of unity and accomplishment among participants, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in the social work profession. Organizers expressed optimism for continued partnership and growth within the network of social work institutions. The next Social Work Month celebration will be hosted by Ylla\u00f1a Bay View College (YBVC), continuing the tradition of fostering solidarity, leadership, and community engagement among future social workers.<\/div>\n
