The Bachelor of Science in Forestry delegates of J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) have secured a Top 3 finish in the tree measurement event of the ongoing 15th National Forestry Olympiad (NFO), currently being held from February 26, 2026, at the University of the Philippines Los Ba\u00f1os. Anchored on the theme \u201cKalikasan at Kabuhayan: Advancing Green Economies Through Sustainable Forest Stewardship,\u201d the competition brings together forestry experts and students from across the country to discuss pressing issues in sustainable forest management while competing in rigorous academic and field events. The JHCSC delegation is led by the BSF Program Chairperson, For. Nomar Ramoncito and BSF faculty member Mrs. Rovana Jawani.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Representing JHCSC are BSF students, Al Hamen Zulieta, Chrislyn Ann Buhian, and Arvin Sopino. In the tree measurement activity, one of the Olympiad\u2019s most technical and closely watched components, Jose Rizal Memorial State University \u2013 Katipunan currently leads, followed by Kalinga State University, with J.H. Cerilles State College (JHCSC) in the Top 3. The strong performance places JHCSC among the frontrunners as the competition continues to unfold.<\/div>\n

The tree measurement event accounts for 15 percent of the overall score and has already begun to shape the standings. Participants from twenty-six (26) schools are competing in a demanding test of precision, observation, and scientific computation in forest mensuration, where accuracy and composure in field conditions are critical to success.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Established in 1994, the National Forestry Olympiad is a biennial scholastic competition hosted at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources of the University of the Philippines, Los Ba\u00f1os. Organized by the UP Zeta Beta Rho Honor Fraternity and the UP Mussaenda Honor Sorority, the NFO provides a platform for forestry students to demonstrate competencies in surveying, taxonomy, forest health assessment, seed and wood identification, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and a comprehensive quiz aligned with the annual theme.<\/div>\n

As the 15th NFO continues, JHCSC\u2019s Top 3 standing in the tree measurement reflects the college\u2019s intense preparation and commitment to excellence, positioning its delegates as formidable contenders in the remaining events.<\/div>\n
