J.H. Cerilles State College Main and Pagadian Campus united in observing the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) on December 4, 2025. The campuses joined the nationwide initiative led by the Philippine Commission on Women, promoting awareness, legal protections, and collective action toward a safer and more empowered society for women.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

In the Main Campus, the activity centered on the theme \u201cBreaking the Silence Together: Upholding Integrity and Accountability Against Sexual Harassment and Gender-Based Violence in the Academe.\u201d The program was graced by Ms. Febe Keith Jumoc, Curriculum and Instruction Director, representing VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Vilma C. Grengia, Dr. Jerry B. Superales, Vice President for Research, Extension and Resource Generation, along with the Gender Club and members of the JHCSC community. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Gender and Development (GAD) Director, Dr. Trinidad C. Abapo, led the event, emphasizing in her message that the advocacy is a solemn movement and a moral responsibility. She urged the community to take a stand against silent suffering and to remain united with integrity in fostering a safe academic environment. One of the highlights was a film viewing focused on sexual abuse within the school setting, aimed at intensifying awareness and strengthening preventative measures in the academe.<\/div>\n

At the Pagadian Campus, the culmination carried the theme \u201cVAW Bigyang Wakas, Ngayon Na ang Oras,\u201d spearheaded by GAD In-Charge, Ms. Charmagne B. Merontos, with the support of Campus Director Dr. Patricia D. Bahian. The activity gathered faculty, staff, students, and members of the GAD Lakbay Kasarian Club to reinforce the message of urgency and collective commitment to ending violence against women.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Atty. Princess Rosal B. Inclan, College Registrar, served as the keynote speaker at the Main Campus, while Atty. Esther Marie S. Ringon, Chief Legal Officer, was the resource speaker at the Pagadian Campus, where, after her discussion, she also addressed students\u2019 frequently asked questions (FAQs) regarding the topic. Both speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening and continued implementation of Republic Act 9262, highlighting the legal protections available to women and the significance of active community participation in safeguarding these rights.<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

These simultaneous efforts reflect JHCSC\u2019s continued commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive academic environment. By amplifying conversations, educating its community, and taking an active stand against violence, the institution moves forward with one clear message \u2014 that every woman deserves respect, protection, and the freedom to thrive without fear.<\/div>\n
